Nitrous oxide increases cerebral O2 consumption (CMRO2).

Oxygen flowmeters are located downstream to all other flowmeters in an Anaesthesia machine to prevent delivery of a hypoxic mixture. (Ref Clinical Anaesthesiology, Morgan Jr, 4th Edn).
