hi I have also joined internship doing my orthopaedics posting now

I have learnt the following
To assess clinically whether a fracture is suspected and hence to get an X ray or not

To apply POP slab, cast and do suturing

Examination of hip and knee joint (most common site of problem in orthopaedics )

To assist during a K wire fixation

I think I have learnt only these

Your experiences are awaited !!!!!!!!!!

iv injection

setting up of iv drip

blood transfusion and its management

passing of ryles tube(stomach tube)


in spl procedures

i did

stomach wash
lumber punture
pleural aspiration
abdominal paracentesis
bone marrow aspiration, bone marrow biopsy


emergency procedures and treatment-

assisted in external cardiac massage
managed a case having convulsions
acute myocardial infarction


i intubated a patient


few more days left of medicine posting



interns doing surgery posting and share yours experiences in other postings also

Blood sampling relevant to various diseases..
LP,
Paracentesis,
gastric lavage,
RT insertion
foley's insertion
blood transfusion with its management
performing CPR
canula insertion
cathetarization,
pts case history taking
Managing Pts in emergengy.
n yep lots of paper work..with lots n lots of writing pt discharges, lots of forms filling for various investigations..n also collecting reports
basically, first fifteen days were enough for learning and practising all these manipulations..
still to finish my medicine posting!
