224. What is Krukenberg amputation?

225. What is 'Charley horse'?

226. Name the disease- it is an idiopathic form of periostitis that is seen in infants younger than 6months, affects extremities, shoulder girdle, mandible. Though it 'mimics a neoplatic process', it is thought to have a viral origin. It is osteoblastic, self-limiting, and clears without disability.

Krukenberg amputation, also called (krukenberg kineplastic operation) transforms the transradial amputation stump into radial and ulnar digits that are capable of strong prehension and have excellent manipulative ability because of retained sensation on the 'fingers' of the forearm. This is however not done as a primary amputation. [see page 658 Current orthopaedics ]

225. 'Charley horse' a term used to describe a severe contusion to the quadriceps muscle. [current orthopaedics 191pg)

226. Caffey disease [current orthopaedics 370pg]
