hey..i m 2 yr of mbbs..n i m focussed to go in indian foreign services n have started prep in genral way..by reading editorials, having views n stands at diffrent social issues n being aware of the current affairs..
i have chosen med sciences for pre n med sciences n psycology for mains..med sciences is a gr8 sub..coz---
1) v are more familiar to it than ny other new subject.
2) IAS exam has defined syllabus for subject..it has clearly stated that wat 2 read..like for eg. it says read knee joint..that means only knee joint n no other joint, but that knee joint shud be read throughly from grays n bdc n other buks...so if u r in 4th yr, get the syllabus, in mark the topic for IAS n read them with extra attention n efforts.
3)it will also prep u for pg exams..coz remember IAS is highly unpredictable gambling kind of xam...so keep ur back ups ready if u dont get thru.
best of luck.

for mains, those who have cleared say that those questions which v mark imp for mbbs in every subject r the catch..like in anat. circle of willis, breast, femoral triangle etc like things which v kno very well that dey r the most imp 2 study...
similarly in all the other subjects..
for writing ans....
1) the same technique of using more n more diagrams n flowcharts rather writing stories.

the easy way out is if u can catch some old notes by ur old n gold proffessors wud be the best.
