Quick Scroll pneumonia in hiv 08.06.08 (1 month ago) #20

in hiv patients surprisingly the causative agent 4 pneumonia is nither a virus nor a bacteria, actually it is a fungi named pneumocystic carinii.
previously it was concidered as protozoan, may be present as normal flora of body,it is an opertunistic infectious agent.

in hiv t4 lymphocytes r damaged,hence t4:t8[helper:suppressor] is reduced.pneumonia occurs only when CD4 cell n T helper cells r reduced below 400 ppm.

hiv is diagnosed by IgG n viral proteins but not by viral antigen.

treatment-4 hiv azidothymidine,zydovidine,dideoxynosine.

n 4 pneumonia-trimethoprim,sulphamethoxazole,pentamidine.
