hi buddy
its worth appreciating that u have started ur prep so early

actually, i started my prep in 2nd yr itself
im in final yr now n as suggested by my senior colleagues the early u start the better it is icon_razz.gif

well, the ans for ur query is PULSE PUBLICATIONS subject wise mcq books
they have given a god chapter wise as well as topic wise questions

if u are planning for central exams viz AIIMS PGI etc then go for A R O R A PUBLICATION they concentrate more on recent paper of central entrances with good explanations n references
lastly follow standard books n build a very strong CONCEPT
good luck icon_lol.gif icon_lol.gif icon_cool.gif

first of all getting started is more important
i use to have similar doubts in my 2nd yr but then i use to ask my seniors not knowing what kind of a person he/she is icon_sad.gif
.......by this what i mean 2 say is..........
basically there are 2 kinds of students
1. those who want to enjoy the beautiful college life n just pass the xam
.......such people unfortunately end up in compromising their PG options in future
2. second category is those who want 2 make a strong foundation so that when they prepare for PG in future they do not waste ime in goin back 2 refer basics
MY ADVICE TO CATEGORY ONE: follow what ur heart says enjoy but make it apoint 2 pass the xam

my advice to CATEGORY TWO:
i read the following books for concept

1. Pharmacology KD TRIPATHI
2.Micro............. ANANTHANARAYAN
3.parasitology....CHAKRABORTY /PANICKER
4.Pathology .......ROBBIN's PBD

keep reading these books......meanwhile u shud refer Physiology for ur concepts in ENDOCRINOLOGY, ARRYTHMIAS, HEART FAILURE, etc;

ii read the following be4 ur exams
same as above except PATHO: read HARSHAMOHAN for xams

fell free 2 ask any doubt chapter wise from any book
i can also tell u how 2 start but i think u know that
bye buddy

unfortunately i fell into category 1 in my first year(mainly due to peer pressure n negligent seniors as u said)
so can u please suggest the topics which certainly NEED TO BE referred as soon as possible(from first year)...
also i m confused why u dint mention abt Forensic (most probably because it is not that significant) but anyways comment on it...
one last query is that since i hav just started 2nd yr i dont know if parasito is a part of micro or patho... icon_question.gif icon_rolleyes.gif icon_confused.gif

chapter wise what ever doubts u have w r t basics u shud refer it back immediately no matter what time it takes coz if u have strong CONCEPT of various pathways, FEEDBACK mechanisms, graphs, so-on....... u will not take even half time 2 complete same topic in ur next revision

regarding Forensic its a good subject but u shud start it only after 3-4 months of ur 2nd yrs coz remember its a branch of clinical MEDICINE it deals with symptoms signs and approach 2 diagnosis it involves various concepts from PATHO, PHARMA PHYSIO etc thus it has 2 b started only after u complete substantial amount of these subjects.....
Forensic MED has a good weightage in state n national pg entrances but it can be mastered in short time hence do it last

get started n i bet u ll never need anyone's advice

make short term n long term plans write it on paper n paste it on wall

u ll get motivated when u see it later on

remember to hit u r target u shud see it and have ur feet firmly grounded icon_lol.gif
