hi folks,

i have completed my M.D skinthis year.
i wud suggest choosing thesis topics where you get to do something,
Like comparing two modalities of treatment of say, keloids,acne pigmentation,scars,physical modalities in psoriasis and vitiligo,
and if u want your thesis to go a long way,that is conferences,publication and so on choose the hot topic today HIV/AIDS.

do a big thesis of at least 50-60 cases. Smaller thesis are converted into posters in the conferences by the seniors.
try and finish data collection by the end of second year so that it doesn't frustate u in the final study year.

the problem with vitiligo is that you don't get alot of rare cases of vit. acral is even rarer.
You want lip tip or only acral vitiligo. Actually depends on what modalities to compare. The other set must also have a physical and chemical modalities. how about excimer laser and something else. Ask your guide. you must have that many patients and their follow up. Easy in a govt. set up.

As u said Pama, Hansens and psoriasis are very good topics where u can get good number of cases. every year there is a special prize for best paper in leprosy at national conference.so u can go with this topic. in psoriasis, u can do a study on child hood psoriasis, compare various modalities of treatment in psoriasis. In Hansens u can do eye changes in leprosy, or a study in leprosy reactions, or deformities in leprosy.
