Hi although there was nothin in my application for this rotation for Psychiatry than 6-m SHO medicine overseas, and some appendices like DNBI.....they have shortlisted me for a 4 year Psychiatry trainin rotation this feb in a delightful institute with excellent & education facilities research facilities.
I am pretty happy for it and NEED SOME EXPERIENCED PPL WHO HAVE ATTENDED PSY EXP TO GUIDE ME HOW TO GO ABOUT THE INTERVIEW IN Psychiatry AND WHAT PERSONALITY TRAITS DO THEY LOOK FOR.
aND YUP DO SUGGEST SOME USEFUL READIN....I HAVE STILL 10 DAYS TO GO....
And to what extent will MRCP -1 provide me an edge in the interview (i wasnt havin it when i applied). I plan to discuss this accomplishment in my interview as well? gUiDeEe icon_confused.gif

One thing I can tell you is that MRCP1 would definitely work AGAINST you in a Psychiatry interview.I have attended quite a few interviews before finally getting one right so I can give you all the advice you need about it..So email me for a complete rundown on what to do and what not to do during the interview;)

Hi Bravo, I offered you some advice on how to go about the interview but you don`t seem to care!Chill it,dude! It`s JUST A SHORTLISTING!You don`t stand a chance if you don`t prepare well(more crucial as you have no previous experience in Psychiatry )..Believe me,I have been there quite a few times before and know what it takes to get through.

Hi Bravo
I have not received anything from you.Did you send it to the correct email ID?My email is :[email address in profile] [snip] .com

CHAI=Commission for Healthcare Audit and Inspection. The statement of purpose of this organisation can be found at

Its bascially an independent organisation set up by the government to make sure that the NICE guidelines and principles of clinical governance are properly implemented in the various organisations that constitute the NHS.

Audit is a systematic and critical review of existing guidelines and practices with guidelines that can be met(say, nice guidelines or Royal College guidelines or whatever) with the aim of making improvements to the former. To do an audit you first choose a topic that is relevant to patient care, compare the existing guidelines with standards that can be met and then suggest changes in the existing practice. Then you do a reaudit after a period of time to find out if your suggestions have resulted in an improvement in patient care.

Clinical governance is a framework through which all organisations which are part of the NHS are held accountable for the care that they provide to the public as well as for the constant improvement of the same with the aim of implementing an enviornment in which clinical excellence would flourish. This is acheived through :(well, a lot of things..I think I would write it up in leisure and email it to you;))
