Ok.Lets just take a few setps back from the moaning and groaning.Lets look at it after taking a few DEEP BREATHS.

Pretend India has now reached the pinnacle of development and has becomea hub for economic activity.Lets say we have an Indian PLAB that is flooded with overseas docs from around the world(Dnt Laugh, could happen)Now if i have a doctor by thenaem of Dr.Mgimbo Idowele coming to me in my hospital with his CV that sayss he has so and so experience, has done audits,ad under gone watnot courses in wherever.Would i still hire him?NO.not until he has validated himslef in some ways, like passing an MRCP or having some sort of previous experience.I am lucky enuff to get a job in feb and at present am doing locums, but it wasnt easy to do get here.

I have noticed that even where i work there is a MAJOR shortage of docs, but the problem is that the NHS doesnt have the money to hire the necessary number to bridge the deficit.

My point is ,dont expect that post PLAB a job is mandatory. Its more chancy than we would like to believe.Lets face the facts.wat were our motives for coming here?was it higher education or the pound to rupee ratio?the condescesion we can summon when we say "Doc working in london".
we need to b a little more introspective and anaylize our own motives.Maybe thats y we have no jobs.

Every Human motive revolves around MONEY,FAME,PRESTIGE.
u donno what ya got till its gone....so v come here with dreams in our greedy minds and we lose out on better things elsewhere...we come here in our sanity, fully aware that its not easy...and then we complain..coz things dint work out the way we expected,alas...
Any wayz,
Cheers,
Swttu.

The medical staffin finally says that they considered me too good to stay back doin their HO post in Aug....they say I shd look forward to february...Aug wld be too late for me...thats what even my refree said

But one thing i believe....one in hand is better than 2 in the bush....so even the aug job wld have been a kinda reassurance with a security for the future

Busy applyin now friends....so wont be able to devote much to the forum
Thanks for ur sothing words everybody..ok Swtu apart!!?!
My reason...its more of a runaway from home..a personal reason for which jumped out of there to here.........and dont plan to stay in UK or India either after completeng MRCP ....and dont plan to take/pay a lotsa savings back home

And Swttu tht analysis of urs dosent fit everybody...maybe not u even...u know that...its just the way u r taking negative view of ppl....

The major reason for ppl comin here is to check what the westren world is like....a thing which every person in developin country is curious bout....and also in hope to have some good training (which isnt so for everybody)....

U r more famous practising back home...here fame for docs is quiet limited....as it is for everybody except the celebrities and researchers....everybody else is a common man.

And ppl comin here are gen from richer strata....so cld have done withut mony....these xtra 30-40 lacs in comin 4 yrs.
Ok swttu...just answer if the motives u have quoted are the one for u comin here...as far as i know u , they arent..

And i know many on the forum and personally who arent here for these motives alone....the major reason wld be to do different from Indian/other PG which is too saturated and to adopt a different life than what we r leadin at home.....

Well it will be very interesting to think bout them...and comfortable , share them.

Cheeeers
Bravo

Quick Scroll dont genralize,plz 11.22.03 (5 years ago) #14

hi bravo,
looks like something doesnt go with u,as I know u,u argue,so that u dont have to accept something....but plz....everyone is different, everyone has there own reasons...everyone craves for their own share of happiness...a mouthfull of sky, before I die.... for me comin here is an adventure...thats inbuilt into me,comin here is an escape for u (as u commited here), BUT comin here for most is still a search for greener pastuers( a foriengn country, the 'Doc working in london' status as aescalapius says)
If u r runnin away from something...u can carry on runnin...I mean how does it matter if u stay here or move on...now why do u crib then...thats how the sys here is...but since u have nothin to lose or gain by bieng here...why does it hurt you if u dont have a job?is it becoz somewhere in your mind u consider hsvin wasted ur parents hard earned money, have not lived up to ur own expectations, made it to a rich doc status...so u see MONEY matters.
Cheers
swttu
