Anyone interested in leaving medicine? I'm just about to to do something totally unrelated and if anyone wants advice on how to start going about it, then write something in the forum.

I'm off 'cos I'm fed up with crap, bad work load etc. and I guess I've never had any great calling to be a doctor. I'll miss a lot about it but not enough to make me stay another forty years.

Even if you don't want to leave, it actually helps knowing that there are other options. It makes those bad 24 hour duties easier knowing you don't absolutely have to be there.

the best thing which u can do is make ur mind for GRE .. study for it...for just 3 months..n ur line will be changed to biogenetics....Forensic .. bioinformatics.. n well any field except the clinical field.. nad ofcourse u will earn handsomely too..n a nice quality of life too...but woont be a "dr"

The GRE option is good.
I myself is partly out of clinical medicine. I am into a company started by MBBS doctors with MBA from IIM. We are solution providers to pharma companies, hospitals, Govt. health depts, private practitioners, with overseas projects also. In three years we have moved from 15 lakhs to 14 crores, with a next year target of 50 crores.
I have the ease of working hours, flexible timings, option to work from home, and a handsome pay package. I am into this since three years now.
Anybody interested I can be of help.
