WELL SAID JUKIN - HAVE THOSE WHO POINT ON FMGE
EVER CONSIDER THEMSELF TO BE RESILIENT AND TOLERANT ENOUGH TO SUFFER THE PAIN AND GRIEF OF NOT MAKING IT THOUGH THE natboard SO CALLED LISCENSING EXAM AND THOSE RACISM AND INTOLRABLE ARROGANT BEHAVIOUR OF THE PEOPLE FROM WHERE WE HAVE MANAGED OURSELVES SO WELL AND KEPT THE FLAG OF INDIA (OUR PRIDE )SOARING EVEN-EVER HIGHER THEN THESE LUCKY PEOPLE SITTING IN THE LAPS OF THEIR MOTHERLAND AND CREATING MEDICAL MIRACLES EVERYDAY AS SOME MENTIONED BY YOU EARLIER AND ALOT YET REMAIN UNTOLD. ACTUALLY, FOR ONCE AND ALL- THE SOLUTION TO THE PROBLEM IS THAT THOSE WHO SAY THAT WE ARE NOT SUITABLE ENOUGH OR NOT AT PAR SHOULD GET THEIR PERMANENT REGISTRATION NO.ONLY AFTER PASSING THE FMG EXAM AND THEN WE'LL SEE KISME KITNA HAI DUM.

THANKS A LOT BONITA
it takes a lot of courage to start the vicious cycle once again for getting a mere piece of paper but such consoling words do have meaning and as i know and believe NO DEFEAT IS FINAL UNTIL YOU STOP TRYING,AND that has made us a medical graduate from institutes which has far better reputations and credibility than most of these already dying govt.medical colleges...........

Well Said CHunnu.Keep it goin.I have no problem watsover with the whole prospect of goin through a screening exam.To be honest,i favour such things, but on eshould remeber the cost we paying for this.Just the whole system which is like a headless chicken is making lwas over laws without evaluating pros and cons. They all making rules, cuz they can.For once i wish they would think like one of the students who has to undergo this trmendous trauma.I am in sweden and i realise that, hurdles exist here too,but they can be solved with such ease(Even on telephone).I only hope those MCI babus comes of age one day.

Thanks paatch_aadams,for you it seems to me as a real optimistic guy(srry if u r a gal) who believes in being the part of the solution not like these natboard people who are so CUTE(Creating Unnecessary Troubles Everywhere)and try to hide their flaws and faults in foreign medical graduates and their education........
For me one thing is sure HOPE SHOULD BE THE LAST THING TO DIE BECAUSE IT DARES ME TO TRY.......AND TRY........AND TRY..........

MCI FMGE
screening test is a joke

Hi guys,
I have been meaning to write for some time about this crazy MCI "screening" test. first thing is get it out ouf your mind that the MCI is screening anythign. the test is a joke.
A little bit background : i went to Rus coz i didnt get through here with the crappy system. was in Pavlov in St.Pete. no complaints. if anone thinks Russian doctors are substandard they need to meet my batch. we will fly cirlces around them.
I thought i would write about my experience in case it helped somebody.
I didnt attend any classes, sat at home and studied for a month and a half and got through by the grace of God. here's how:
my advice to you:
1. donts stay home. you wont study. no matter how strange this sounds, anybody who is serious about studying will tell you this is true.
2. Dont watch TV; its a big distractor. its just a month. get rid of the bloody exam and then you can whatever you want.
3. Study.
what i did:
1.Prayed. no kidding.
2. I got hold of the following books and spent all day reading them through, cover to cover - Robbins Pathology
, davidson's, Dutta - Obs
(the Gyn book sux, but read it anyways), Parkes PSM
, Chaurasia anat., some small book on Parasiteology. go to your local book guy and pick em up second hand. its not worth buying new if you dont already have 'em.
i didnt do opthalmology and took a risk. i guess on ehsould really do that too. i didnt touch pharma either. you think its a big risk? its not. do the other stuff like medicine pharma is a joke.
It seems a big deal to you but its really not. Robbins takes a little over a week if you sit at 10 am and read till 6 p.m and take one hour off in between for lunch and a short nap, and 10 minutes off every second hour. Dont underline, no not even with different colours. just read and get a big pictre of things.
then get Pulse Publications AAA and solve the whole thing. do ten questions, check your answers and move on.
get Mudit Khanna Medicine , do the same. except read the explanations.
know the following topics cold:
1.Polycystic Kidney Disease
2.Alport's syndrome
3.Glomerular nephritis (yes all of them , its not difficult)
4. ATN
5. Cystic Fibrosuis
6. SIDS
7. Liver pathologies
8. C.A breast
9. Thyroid Pathology
10. Anemias and Iron panel studies
11. Coagulation disorders
12. C.A skin
13. Female menstrual cycle hormone variations etc
14. orthopaedics
- uh.. some book called essentials in orthopaedics
- its a bright red book by elsiver publications. its amazing.
15. Steroid hormones
16. Children's infectious diseases
17. Obstetrics - everything!
if you need help, or have q's mail me.
people say there isn't a system to the MCI test. i think there is. ask the guys around me, when we were discussing importnat topics before the exam we covered atleast 150q's which came the next day on the paper.
Classes? you dont need 'em.
More soon.

I guess the exams are pretty tough(or are they? i didn't read the whole 17 pages)
My view is that, while a screening is essential, it must be on par with what is expected of Indian medical graduates at the end of their MBBS. Now deciding the level may be difficult but certainly possible
It should not be ridiculously difficult and should be reviewed for relevance. But i guess that is easier said than done!

well firstly all the indian medical graduates as u so porudly call yrselves...stop blasting and pouncing on us the foriegn medical grads..firstly do remember one thing ... we are as indian as you all are and thus deserve equal oppurtunities.
i recently graduated from moscow, Russia
in 2007. inspite of getting a good rank in the indian undergrad cet i did not get seats .want to know y...reservations...sc .st all that jazz...the guy before me in the list got the seat that he wanted y.cause he was a minority community...so u guys call that fair. out of sheer frustration with the system out here..when a person can achieve their dream of becoming a doc by paying the same amount as you guys pay out here for a paid seat , not to mention the nri quota stuff y shouldnt he or she go abroad to work in better conditions.whts wrong in that??i rather pay and go to some civilised place than pay for a paid seat and complete my mbbs by staying in a little interior village.
also as regards the mci screening test.well if we fmgs have to give it .y not the indian medical grads. i have studied for and passed that exam within the first try and so have most of my frnds. so undermining our knowledge would be a grave mistake on yr part. not only that but we are doing an extra year of i nternship again in india.how come u guys never consider all that? i would say the quality of docs coming out from Russia
and the ones from india are almost at par.yea i do agree there are exceptions and students who dont study .but isnt that the case in india too...the ones who want to study will study let it be abroad or back at home....as rightly said by some ppl in the previous posts ...have the exam for all the med grads..like how the us has it..y that discrimination?/?
lets c how well all the studious and know it all indian medical grads perform in that exam....
