Hello

I have not yet decided when will I appear. I am appearing for PLAB 1 on 23rd sept and then i will plan my PLAB 2 and accordingly i will plan my MRCPath 1. if you have definite plans please let me know. I was thinking of appearing it in UK when i go there for PLAB 2. but if somebody is here with me to appear i will appear here. so let me know ur plans. ALso let me know your name and other details.

Hi Pankaj!!!
actually i am still in my 5th post Microbiology from mumbai.am due for my MD exams in july 2006.so anything would be after that only.still i wanted to know how to go about preparing for the same.i had heard that there was PLAB exemption for the same,is it not so?i also have to appear for my IELTS ,can u suggest me some book and giude me about this particular exam,as to how much would be the minimun time required for preparation.actually i am planning to give MRCPathI in mumbai,one essential qualification for which is passing MD exam,so i guess i still have time,but i was thinking of preparing for it along with my MD exam so taht the flow is maintained.Please do keep in touch.

In which college are you doing your MD?
Yes you need to clear MD for appearing MRCPath one. About IELTS a month or two would be enough. You you will get the preparation material for that exam when u book for the exam.that is more than enough. You can also read some extra books in the british library just few days prior to the exam.
Yes there is a PLAB exemption at present but you never know they might end the PLAB exemption any time. So better be prepared with the PLAB . Secondly you will have some brush up of your brain with clinical subjects.
If I decide to appear in sept 2006 i will be there with u but i might appear it in march 2006 if iam prepared. Lets see.
which books are u planning to read for MRCPath .
i heard mandell's is good. but it takes lot of time to read. i have bought the latest 6th edition of the same book. do u know any other books which will be helpful. Also let me know if you know any books with the mcqs of MRCPath pattern.

Hi!!!!
Thanks for the info about IELTS .am at GSMC & KEMH in Mumbai.i too have heard about Mendel and Douglas being a good book,but for mcqs i dont know.Maybe i can find out and let u know.PLs tell me as to how much time does the application procedure would take accordingly i wud plan whether to give in sept2006 or in mar2007.actually i got to plan my IELTS ,and right now my thesis as my 1st priority,so want to complete that as soon as possible.but studying for the exam simultaneously although not in a very organised fashion!!!
