DEAR FRIEND i ALMOST RED THE ENTIRE THREAD ABOUT THE MPH AND DEFENITELY YOUR HELPING EVERYBODY HERE AND NOT WASTING ANY EFFORT AND THATS SO NICE FROM YOU
i WONDER IF YOU COULD HELP ME WITH MY QUESTION , HOW MUCH SHOULD i GET ON THE GRE
(CBT) TO BE ADMITTED FOR A MASTER DEGREE OF PUBLIC HEALTH IN THE STATES?IS THERE AN MINIMUM SCORE , LIKE THAT OF TOEFL
(550)CBT,(213)CBT?

Hi Purp,
Glad to see that you are starting early and are quite focussed on your objectives. this is the best time to do your daily practice as well as side by side learn to articulate better in english.
Look the preparation varies from person to person. What i may tell may not be the best for you, and the way u study may not be good for me, its an individual choice. There is no single way to success.
There are plenty of articles on RxPG itself telling you about the preapration steps, go through them, you will definitely find them helpful.

Hi cooldoc80,
I am glad to know that people are benefitting from this thread.
There is no minimum for the GRE
exam especially for the MPH course. just from my personal experiances, I have seen a guy with 960 GRE
get selected, while a one with a much higher GRE
score guy rejected. It will not just only depend on your GRE
score but the whole package. Try to do the best on the exam, i am sure you will score well. Aim for a score greater than 1200, to help you get in good schools.
Please also look carefully for the TOEFL
score requirements, though majority have 213CBT or 550PBT, few of the schools also have 240 and 250 CBT.

thanks for your help . but concerning the GRE
i know that the maximum score is 800 (verbal)&(quantitative) with a 6 scale score for writing ? i'm I right? do you mean the paper based exam , I would be grateful if you could explain to me how much this equals ?
and concerning the TOEFL
dont you think it would be easier to take a high mark on the PBT , than the new IBT , I know there is a comparisom schedule between them .but i can return to my country iraq and do the paper based instead of doing the IBT test here in jordan ? any recommends?

Hi Cooldoc80,
you seem to be misinformed about the GRE
. Its a exam which carries 1600 marks. 800 for the verbal component and another 800 for the mathematical ability. The writing section is graded separately on a 6 point basis.For more information on the scoring pattern and other details visit the ETS site, it has plenty of information for you.
You can apply to just about any exam pattern available to you, i.e, PBT/CBT/IBT. just make sure you know the pattern and do well in the exam. All the very best.

Hi Advisor,
I got 330 in verbal and 760 in math.....i did all high frequency words from barrons only....first 7 word lists from barrons...and words in groups from kaplan.......i'm very frustated with my score in powerprep...exam in only 7 days.......guide me what to do now? should i postpond my exam or take it any ways.......is there any bit possibility of my getting admission?

Hi Aunik, Sorry friend, maybe i am too late in giving advice to you. If you still have time, see if you can postpone it for a month or so and religiously prepare for the exam. All the best.

i want to apply for the post of phd in micro and immunology. i have completed my mbbs and presently doing junioresidency in Microbiology
. i will be completing 1 year in Microbiology
.presently doing research works related to Microbiology
