LA s predominant active species is cationic, enter the channel only from inner face of memb, and binds tightly to channel when it is inactive.

hence nerve fibre has to b active for la to act.

Voltage gated Na channels are responsible for propagation of Action potential. LAs block these channels ---> anaesthesia
as u know Nerve fibre types are TypeA(more diameter and myelinated and fastest conduction) TypeB (myelinated, intermediate velocity)Type C (least diameter, unmyelinated with least speed)
Order of blockade TypeC,B>Type Adelta >>> A alpha, beta, gamma
hence sensory fibres are blocked more than motor,
also peripheral most fibres in a nerve trunk are blocked preferentially, in the extremities the sensory fibres are most circumferential while vice versa proximally.
