hi lazy

if u read ananthnarayan it says that infection in armadillo most closely resembles human infection

on that statement i m concluding that BEST would b armadillo

MOST COMMONLY USED animal model wud b foot pad of mice

thats how i wud attempt the question.....

lazy i am sorry for the ref coz i gave you what my professor gave in class....he put slides with that cdc symbol on them........but its a year and i forgot exact location and what i found now is moise foot pads there....!!!!!!!! here it is:

A bacillus, Mycobacterium leprae, that multiplies very slowly and mainly affects the skin, nerves, and mucous membranes. The organism has never been grown in bacteriologic media or cell culture, but has been grown in mouse foot pads.

i still feel armadillo's the best as validated by dr bruno so shall stick with it

I think foot pad of mice is the best.In 9 banded armadillo there will be a certain immune response to the lepra bacilli which may adversely affect the yield of the bacilli.In foot pad of mice there is ideal conditions for growth of lepra bacilli and no immune response.
