Well manpreet i don't think there wud be ever true lengthening of cord cos its not so elastic. I hope u wud agree on that. Yes a cord may be constitutionally long or short.

i think the answer should be true lenthening of the cord

WELL AFTER A LOT OF RESEARCH I FOUND THIS ON A SITE---
Third stage This stage starts with birth of the baby and ends with delivery of the placenta and membranes. Separation of the placenta occurs immediately after birth due to forceful uterine contractions along with retraction of the uterus, thus greatly reducing the size of the placental bed. It normally takes up to 5 mins but can take longer. Haemorrhaging is prevented by contraction of uterine muscle fibres closing off the blood vessels supplying the placenta. Without active management, after 10–20 mins separation is shown by gush of blood, prominence of the fundus in the abdomen and apparent lengthening of the umbilical cord.

ALSO I CHECKED WILLIAM'S OBSTETRICS 21ST EDITION---THIS IS WAT IT SAYS---
signs of placental seperation---
1uterus becomes globular& as a rule firmer
.this sign is the earliest to appear
2there is often a sudden gush of blood
3the uterus rises in the abdomen, because the placenta having seperated, passed down into lower uterine segment & vagina, where its bulk pushes the uterus upwards
4The cord prolapses further out of the vagina, indicating that the placenta has descended

i wud like2 go with apparent lengthening of cord coz ive not come across true cord lenghtening
opinions pls???
in this q probably both options b & c r incorrect
opinions pls???
