Regarding Insurance for OTDs/ doctors with temporary registration/ doctors without PRs in Australia :

If you don't have PR you have to have private insurance. You don't necessarily have to go to private hospitals, you could go to the hospital you are working in as a private patient and end up paying less than you would at a private hospital. There are out of pocket expenses even with insurance cover.

No, the hospital does not provide cover for AON posts.

It is an irony that while you work, and pay taxes even as an Aussie does you are not entitled to medical benefits like an Aussie is, so you actually end up with a less salary effectively than an aussie for the same job.

Expect annual rates ranging $756-2496 for a single person (depending on what your package is) and 1512- 4992 for a family (2+2)

Overseas visitors on temporary visas are not eligible for Medicare benefits unless they are from a country with which Australia has a 'Reciprocal Health Care Agreement'. Currently, Australia has agreements with United Kingdom, Malta, Finland, Sweden, Italy, New Zealand , the Netherlands and Ireland .

After mph you can work in health information officer/manager as health promotion,epidemio,prevention and information all are open after mph. There is no hard and fast rule and public health is not one field but a domain of various professions, and it is up to you to choose you r electives according to your profession.


Summary to increase your chances in AON! From the thread: CHANCES OF SUCCESS IN AON PATHWAY

1) you have a PG qualification with 2 to 3 years experience; clinical/hospital work
2) at least 1 yr experience in UK
3) you have experience in Anaesthesia , critical care, Psychiatry and emergency medicine, GP
4) you have cleared AMC exams plus getting a good rank at MCQ
5) you have completed specialist assessment in their specialist colleges
6) good references
7) you have luck and loads of help from above!
