lazy I think theer r many such thinks which 16th ed has filtetered, dunno why. But i feel many such things r in more detail in 15th than 16th, esp CNS & endocrinology. Still i will check in nelson & let ya kno...both the ques...this one & the neuroblastoma one

also robbins 7th says look 4 CAH in any neonate wit ambiguous genitilia

In the US, the most common cause of mental retardation is fetal hydantoin syndrome!!!! Downs is the most common congenital cause of mental retardation...

The most common congenital cause of ambiguous genitalia is 21 beta hydroxylase def but acquired causes like say administration of androgens to mother may also cause it....

so question should clearly say if its congenital cause or an acquired cause...

well the q was asked in 2003 i think mayb the concept is outdated
but 7th robbins says in any infant wit ambiguos genitilia look 4 cah
so i inferred its the commonest cause
