serum amylase is not specific for pancreatitis
Serum lipase may have a slight edge over amylase
ERCP CAUSES pancreatitis
CT can be used to stage pancreatitis and see complications

they r asking for a screening test- that means sensitive test, need not be specific; + less of false negativity,

hence s amylase is the rt answer!!

if the same q-n 'd incorporated specific with same options then- needless to say s lipase would 've been the answer!!! icon_razz.gif

SERUM AMYLASE MOST SENSITIVE
SERUM LIPASE MOST SPECIFIC
AS LIPASE STAYS ELEVATED LONGER AND HAVING HIGHER SENSITIVITY AND SPECIFICITY.(toronto notes).
I THINK LIPASE IS CORRECT ONE.
