One is functional classification , which we used to study during our 10 + 2 days like Knee & elbow are hinge joint ie they move in one direction , similarily Pivot joint moves all around in rotaion
and Ball & socket joint as Hip joint.
Henceforth Anatomical joint classification has came into force with 1st prof onwards which is purely based on type of cartilage, function, fluid structure etc present in the joints, thus the names are Synovial joint, Condylar joints . Thus One joint can have several names based on different property it poseses.
I hope I have clarrified your querry.
