i know this might be an obvious Q to ask but as an outsider i would like to know which are the good departments in Madras Medical College [ heard pediatrics is very good but apart from that .. ] ..

if i have this college at my rank what subjects can i look at and how much is the discrimination [ if any ] against non tamilians ??

what abt infrastructure , bond , academics etc .. kindly confirm some one who is from the college ...

its a good college for most departments with exceptions like skin,og etc

i may not have adequate info about anesthesia but from what i hear its good for anesthesia too

since u r from bangalore tell me how bmc is for Dermatology do they have facilities like cosmetology and dermatosurgery?

hi mmc ie madras med college is really good for pediatrics..its got a seperate hosp for pediatrics called institute of chid health..exellent patient inflow..and defintely no discrimination against north indian candidates,infact an all india candidate is definitely respected a lot..ur rank to get into peds has to be within 150 the other departments are also good..including anaes u get to do a lot..the only disadv would be the stipend which is quite less compared to other states and the fees which is about 35000 and yeah as far as i know there s no bond but ill find out n let u guys know

as far as tn anest is concerned madurai medical college is considered the SCHOOL of choice for anest. madras too will be good u will have various superspeciality surgeries . u wil have a wide exposure tahn madurai. but madurai moulds the people very much.
other dep in madras medical college is ENT is very nice but very strict heard so.

hey MMC hostels may be bad but not the college...... all i can say is on an average anywhere between 1000-1100 operations are done weekly and i think all of them require anaesthesist ........one gr8 thing is you never get to see professors .......you are the boss .....you teach ugs and so on.......... regarding experience you wont repent but abt knowledge gained i cant say....... above all chennai is said to have better work culture than many cities like delhi , mumbai etc
decide it urself knowledge or experience
