SHOULD BE MORE THAN 20% IN BONE MARROW!( it has come down from 30 to 20 some good 3-4 yrs back as did the FBS from 140 to 126 - the idea is to treat early and for the benefit of the pt for better remission and survival. )

Quick Scroll ACUTE LEUKEMIA 08.18.05 (2 years ago) #14

HI
have u people checked it out with new harrison
a/c to it ,until 2000,diagnosis of AML was established by presence of more than 30%of MYELOBLASTS in the blood /bone marrow and was further classified a/c to CYTOCHEMISTRY AND MORPHOLOGY (FAB CLASSIFICATION)
BUT NOW the WHO CLASSIFICATION has modified the FAB scheme by reducing the NO. OF BLASTS REQUIRED FOR THE DIAGNOSIS i.e.....EQUAL TO OR MORE THAN 20% and including
a)molecular(cytogenetic)
b)morphological(multilineage dysplasia)
c)clinical fetures (like previous hematologic disorder)

.....SO.....THE ......ANSWER ......IS...... 20%[/u][/i]
