md parmac can be boon for some and bane for others depending upon there likes and dislikes.
i recently asked my college h.o.d pharmac regarding nature of job in private sector,he told me that there r broadly 2 types of jobs
1: clinical trails and research
2: training of MRs
in the first case u r doing research work plus u got to tour different cities for promoting the new product to the medical fraternity, and companies.
this touring is for about 10 to 15 days per month.
u got to be very slik and sharp at promoting ur companies product and put forword only the good effects and favourable properties of that drug.and u r supposed to hide the drawbacks and side effects of the new drug.
for this a fresher may get 25k to 35k depending on the company.and if ur output is satisfactory, which is decided by ur company, u will get arround 65k
and above ,from here on to get a fee hike it really depends on how valueable u r to the company,it takes time,at that level u will be coordinating ur team with the bosses in different countries, sugesting them what type of research will be productive in ur region, for this u should have very good knowledge of the subject.
now about the 2nd option: it is less stressfull as u will be stationed at the companies regional headquaters and fresh/new MRs will be trained by u giving them working knowledge about the medical terms.this is a continuous process as every month new batch of MRs r recruited,
in this job profile u earn a decent 25k to 35k growth prospects r very few ,job wise and money wise.but for those who r seeking 9 to 5 job ,this is the one,no night duties no targets minimum touring.
My professor told me that those guys who r in research field actually get frustated by the amont of touring and MBA
like expectations of the company from them.
so for those who want to go for md pharmac just because it will pay u obscene amount of green bucks ,make sure u go into product development programs, also be aware that u may be expected to sacrifce ur personal life as well.
good luck to all of u.

What was your rank in D Y Patil Entrance.I gave their entrance and alsO went to the department of Pharmacology
to enquire about the future prospects from the residents. I came to know that heir first batch of PG studnts is yet to appear for their final exams. So the job prospects after passing out is still not known. Also the seat there is permitted by MCI and not fully recognised. So I dropped the idea of taking admission there. I gave COMEDK so will be trying via COMEDK councelling and also the fees in Karnataka for pre clinical subjects are less there as compared to private colleges of Maharashtra
. So it is for you to decide.
