Read Ganong.. coz lots n lots of PG entrance questions will be exclusively from Ganong. And the MCQs in Ganong are very very important in a PG point of view. They are repeated almost blindly. And MCQs from Ganong are usually the last minute revision tool before an entrance exam.

Guyton is a good book for MBBS exam, but not for PG entrance.

So if everyone gets very well acquainted with ganong from first MBBS itself, it will be a lot easy when u try reading it for PG exams.

ganong needs intensive study...

i dont think ppl in first prof get that much time 2 concentrate so deeply on one subject ...

so guyton s preferable because u read it like a story book.. and the best part is u retain most of what u read...

so if u r a real book worm go for ganong...otherwise guyton should suit u just fine

guyton is a very good book for 1st yr students, you will get your basic concepts right frm guyton, which is important because in my opinion Physiology is a subject of concepts where a deep understanding rather than pure 'mugging' is required.
GANONG is a very good book for pg exams and you will be lost without it in these exams as BGM rightly pointed some questions are repeated verbatim frm questions found in the bacjk of ganong.
so i would recommend study guyton in first yr and later on switch to GANONG for entrance exams.
