I guess mentioning that u r a resident at a hospital helps ur cause since its a solid reason why u wud return back after ur CS. I'm not sure but in that case u might need an NOC from ur hospital. Find out from ur college office.

Mentioning ur immigrant relatives has been a subject of debate amongst us here. But i guess they at times ask u if u know somebody close in the US and if i were u i'd not lie cos they have their own mechanism of performing background checks on us. I dnt even agree that it's a BIG disadvantage, yes maybe a minor negative point. I suggest also ask opinion of some1 who's been in ur situation before or has consulted a visa counselor before.

Good luck for ur VI. icon_smile.gif

Yes there are always programs that can accept candidates outside match but thats much easier said than done. These programs as well as unfilled positions from match (available during July-Aug) are an option but never easy to get. I wudn't rely much on them to get me a residency. Better try to finish ur steps in time for match at least. Though applying very late for match markedly decreases ur chances at least theoretically u have an option of Post match scramble.

Take ur CS b4 ur CK cos CS result takes more time. That wud buy u some more time.

Find out specific info at 'FREIDA online'. Search for programs that do not participate in match, based on ur branch choice.

Well VOs can reject visa for any reason. But usually they don't for such a thing. Infact as i already said being in a PG here helps in proving ur non-immigrant intent thats central to the questioning of the VO. Its important that u be prepared with reasonable answers to common questions.

Still if u r afraid of such a thing happening, U can tell the VO that u r inerested in doing a fellowship after ur PG thats y u r taking the steps. But again u have to decide ur stand properly and prepare ur answers accordingly. U shudn't sound confused, ambiguous or undecided on any point. Whatever u decide stick to it with confidence. Practice well with a fren all ur answers and be prepared for surprise questions.

There is one consultant whom couple of my friends consulted. I forget his name.. Probably some Mr Bhatnagar in Green Park. He's a bit overbearing and charges 5-10k but again is some help nevertheless for people who r too short of confidence and info. I think except the money part there isn't much to lose in taking guidance from a consultant.

U'd be surprised that i still have to apply for my US visa.. icon_biggrin.gif I'm just sharing the info i've gathered from lots of frens and other RxPG members.

Thanks for ur wishes n Good luck again. icon_smile.gif
