Hi aucklander,
Is AMC similar to NZREX? Which one was tougher? Was there a station for any clinical procedure in AMC or NZREX?
Can You please share with us what stations you had for AMC.
Once i pass my NZREX what are my chances of getting a JHO position in Auckland area? How is it to work in Newzealand?
I have found all your replies very useful. Will be great if you can answer my questions
thanks

Hi Doctors
Thank you for your interest.I am sorry to reply late. Preparing USMLE is similar every where. If you go New Zealand Medical Council website you will be clear about all.
There are not many overseas doctors in NZ to sil the exam, i think thats why they prosponed the last clinical exam.

Salary is almost same in AUS and NZ.
Which exam tough?
I think NZREX, but i could be wrong.
There were no procedure station in both AMC and NZREX clinical exam.

One thing i have noticed, AMC clinical examineers are moree intere active with the examinee then NZREX where the examineers are very musked face.

I wish all your best and keep trying.

I think for NZ Auckland is very demandable to everyone like Melbourne in Australia , so you can try your luck when you pass your clinical.
My advice is just clear the exam first then dont worry about the place, go and start working.

All the best. If you need any more information please feel free to ask, i will be happy to answer.

hi aucklander,
Thanks a lot for your reply. i understand that there are no bridging courses or preparation courses for NZREX,is that right? I have been out of touch with the clinical side for some time.Do you have any sugestions for me? Amc clinical preparation courses require a Pass in AMC MCQ.So that is not an option for me.

When you prepared for Nzrex did you keep in mind the examiner's check list?
thanks

Dear Doctors
I think if you visit the NZ Medical council web site it will help you a lot.
Now NZREX is OSCE system, basically they will give you the task and you have to complete the task throughlly.

The web site got some example what they are looking for example The shoulder joint examination, you need to do things throughlly according to the given history.

If it is a management station you have to manage the case appropreatly.
The good thing is you will know what the station is all about before you enter the station by going through the stem hangs out side the door.

For permanent residency i have no idea, it is related to the immegration, but you could check with them.
I believe when you start working it will help you to apply for the permanent residency.

Regarding reading books, i think common medical case in different subject is importent. Again it is on the NZ medical council web site as well.

I wish all your best. If you have more question, i will be happy to help you.

Please dont mint i am not any one's SIR. i am your college.

Dear doctor
I think as you took an AMC clinical practice 8 station you know all about it.
For NZREX, NZ medical council web will help you. For your information, there is difference in time between the time, AMC got certain station ie GY, PED need to pass, Not any station just for physical examination, AMC examineer will some time ask you few question, but NZREX mostly not though both exam is OSCCE type but NZREX is very focused.

If you kindly read my previous post and other view you will be well informed.
Best luck.
