Hi Everybody!
I had telephonic interview a couple days ago and wanna share my experience.
At the moment i am 2007 MBBS graduate with no internship and some volunteer work in Emergency Department in my home Country(Uzbekistan) i have good level of English as lived past 4 years in Au and hold permanent residency. I have sent my resume since september for JMO positions/ internship around Au(mainly parental hospitals) and recently got reply from Queensland base hospital. They checked my referees from bacj home and i had telephone interview then.
i had following questions:
1. Clinical:
a. Female 45 yo on 5 day of hospitalization with asthma developed sudden chest pain.
Diagnosis?
management?
2. Male 55 yo came to em room with chest pain.
Differential diagnosis managment??
2. Ethical questions to determine why you gonna interfere with stuff.

Basicly they said that i would offered position but they have another 3 applicants who have MCQ1 and some work experience. I still question myself: why did they take me through all this process if they already had more appropriate candidatures?

i think you should expect replies soon-they usually dont delay. Did you apply directly to hospitals or through recruitment agencies? Maybe you should try both but with recruitment you have to pay( i am not sure).
How long it took for you to prepare for mcq test, did you have only 1 attempt? I also wanna try on March.
If you are JHO 1 i can advise you to go to australian medical student association and find Intern and Resident book 2006. its pdf file. It contain all parental hospitals with a lot of interesting information about each of them including types of rotation etc + addresses and contact bodies.
good luck icon_wink.gif

HI, mostly they start from 'tell us about yourself'.. then they will ask about what have you done so far etc..

why do you want to come to Australia / come to this particular hospital?

what strengths would you bring into this post?? / why do u think you are a suitable candidate for this post?? tell them a lot about your good qualities.. including that you keep yourself uptodate by reading the medical journals and stuff. and you are totally aware about the evidence based medicine.

they might ask you a qs about the occupational health and safety e.g about the imp steps when u draw blood. Make sure u mention about discarding the needles in yellow sharp bins.

most of the hospitals will give you a clinical scenario about the emergency presentatin like chest pain, shortness of breath or upper GI bleeding etc.

hope that helps..all the best!!
