well, for first year, satyanarayan is a kinda must have.
harper....if u r very much passionate abt biochem.... theres no pon in reading harper if you just wanna read it for the sake of reading.
if u wanna read harper, read it frm the beginning of your course.
for pg cet.... lippincot is the name. easy 2 understand wid loads of diagrams n tables.
i wud recommend tat u read haraper n lippincot type of books, if the subject realy fascinates u. satyanarayan is a really good book n it wud even help u in pg cet.
dont look down on satyanrayan, its the saviour for many. n it is as good as many other indian books.
i must warn u, in the begining even if u think u like biochem frm the bottom of ur heart, its the most lightly taken subject by many.

to be more precise harper n liipincot take time... which is scarse in first year... so choose ur bibles properly!!!

For first year, i think Satyanarayan is the best...
there s nt much load of it...besides u have other big subjects of Anatomy and Physiology ... concentrate on them more...
For PG exam, i think lippincot is the best....

As far as the MCQs are concerned,I have spoken to some doctors from Tata Hosp.[my parents work there],they say that to really crack an entrance exam u need to be pit-pat with ur textbooks first.Solving MCQs from first year might take u offtrack or even spoil ur concepts[no MCQ book is perfect in giving answers].
What i'm trying to say is u can't learn new things from ur MCQs,u have to learn them through textbooks.

Enjoy reading,that's most important. icon_smile.gif

Hi
In continuation with ur above post, when do you think is the best time to get started with MCQs ? I mean, if we just concentrate on the bibles in first year, will that do ? Wont that put us on an offtrack wrt MCQS ?
Please advise.

Hi aryarajendran,I'm a first yr ok so i don't know the right time to solve MCQs.I merely posted what the docs told me.....

I intend to solve MCQs just for clearing concepts, atleast in first yr.Not at all in bulk and surely not from PG books like Salgunan and so on..........

I want to solve from the same author I'm reading. For example,Guyton review,Lipincott MCQs,Ganong review, only after thorough reading......just to enjoy whatever I learnt and add a clinical flavour to it icon_wink.gif

acc to me RANE and SHINDE of jaypee publications is best so far no doubt it is very lengthy and a big book but material in it is available nowhere and biochem is an imp subject for pg so one should definitely go for it icon_smile.gif
