Hey doc! I would ask you to read Lehninger for Biochemistry . It is an excellent book. and for metabolisms u may additionally read Orton and Neuhaus. They describe the metabolisms in a detailed manner. I think these two would suffice.

wow...
never came across these names re....

i feel they can surely be good to refer to from lib (ther ll be so many other books by foreign authers right) but how much ll they help otherwise--i mean pg entrance......have u gone through these two books thoroughly. don't u think such books can take people off track when there r already so many proven books(as far as Qs being asked in pg) like satyan, vasudevn, chatterjee n shind, harper, lipincott......??

These are very good books and do not take people off track . They were recommended to me by my HOD of Biochemistry . But, Iam aware that most of the students do not read these.

If you want to learn Biochem the most current conceptual book is
Fundamentals of Biochemistry (Hardcover)
by Donald Voet, Judith G. Voet "

They have another version called Biochemistry that is more encyclopedic.

Best wishes
S

quite a lot books but take my advice too. i m preparing for pg and after reading all these well known books i setelled on to vasudevan and harper. these are the best books for 1st year as well as pg entrance. you will not miss even a single question. read vasudevan first; metabolism part is good enough to be set in ur minds and genetics part make up ur base, then go on with harper genetics. thats it.
