A QUESTION FROM AIIMS DECEMBER 1997:
CHORIONIC VILLOUS BIOPSY IS NOT DONE IN :
1.PHENYL -KETONURIA.
2.DOWN"S SYNDROME.
3.NEURAL TUBE DEFECT.
4.THALASSEMIA.

AS FAR AS I KNOW C.V.S.[DONE GENERALLY BETWEEN 10 TO 12 WEEKS] IS DONE FOR TWO PURPOSES:
1.BIOCHEMICAL.
2.GENETIC DISORDERS.

BIOCHEMICAL DISEASES MEAN TO SAY DIFFERENT STORAGE AND METABOLISM DISORDERS LIKE [NIEMAN-PICK'S] AND

GENETIC DISEASES MEAN TO SAY
1.HEMOPHILIAS.
2.HAEMOGLOBINOPATHIES.
3.CYSTIXC FIBROSIS.
4.MUSCULAR DYSTROPHIES.

FROM THIS LIST ,IT IS EVIDENT THAT BOTH [2] AND [3] ARE RIGHT.
SO WHAT IS THE ANSWER AND WHY ,MY DEAR FRIENDS?
THANKX A LOT.
