Quick Scroll PSM -let's discuss...! 10.11.06 (2 years ago) #1

dear friends,
In our run to cover up the final year subjects like med n surg in the 6th n 7th sem, I feel that we might lose grip on our present subject i.e. PSM
icon_eek.gif icon_confused.gif icon_eek.gif

however tedious it may seem to revise this subject on our own, discussion in these forums can make it lively... icon_wink.gif

so guys, get started....get the facts n figures outta book....afterall SPM does form a sizeable chunk in pre-pg exams....!

regards...
devira

Quick Scroll topic of the week- health programs...! 10.12.06 (2 years ago) #2

Hey friends,
let's post all our doubts regarding the HEALTH PROGRAMS in India. We can post here some good mcqs which we come across on this topic...

lemme first start with MALARIA CONTROL:

* IMPORTANT YEARS
National Malaria Control Program 1953
National Malaria Eradication Program (NMEP) 1958
Modified Plan of Action 1977

NMEP was renamed as National Anti-Malaria Program in 1999 since complete eradication is not feasible

*STRATEGIES

Classification of areas according to ANNUAL PARASITE INDEX
API = confirmed malaria casesin a yr/ population under surveillance per 1000

in areas with API >2, regular spraying with synthetic pyrethroids at 6 wk interval is done

* Goals for the 10th Plan

ABER over 10 percent
API 1.3 or less
25% reduction in morbidity and mortality due to malaria by 2007 and 50% by 2010.

note: ABER is annual blood examination rate=
total no. of slides examined/population per 100

next is tuberculosis.. icon_exclaim.gif ...anyone interested in continuing...?? icon_rolleyes.gif icon_question.gif

i think. anavrin, devirante is also right,

according to park pg 443, 2 lakh IU=110mg.

so 50000IU =27.5mg.

thats a nice Q. anavrin.
