Scoline increases ICT to a small extent. This is due to the muscle fasciculations which lead to an increase in cerebral activity. This can be attenuated by hyperventilation ( Hyperventilation washes out CO2 and this hypocapnia causes a decrease in cerebral blood flow. It can also be prevented by a small (defasciculating) dose of a non-depolarising relaxant like atracurium or vecuronium or by giving (preservative free) lignocaine @ 1.5 mg/kg or fentanyl @ 1-2 mcg/kg prior to giving the scoline.)
