Quick Scroll FAQ: Would observership be preferable over USMLE Step 3? 04.30.07 (1 year ago) #1

i have been issued multiple entry B1 visa for 6 months only. My visa ends on 25th oct. 2007 . i have my CS on 24th may.
Since i am short on VISA duration, will it be best for me to do observership or take step3 in this period ? which one will improve my chances for residency ?
How should i plan my future course of action ?
i am hard hit by less duration of VISA

I believe you should try n do both.... An observership will improve your chances for interviews... and you will need the step 3 for H1.

Also if you have had a US visa and if you have travelled to the US atleast once... you are very much likely get another visa when you apply again.

try both if possible.

i chose observership over step3.

USCE will never fail you.. getting interview invitations and matching is easier.

You need to decide first what matters more to you... matching in a good program or H1 visa.. if you are lucky, you might just get both.

1) it is not mandatory to do an observership

2) minimum duration is of 15 days.. you may do it upto 3 months.

3) no specific number required. even one can suffice.

4) most programs require that you pay for it.

I found lot of links over there...but one of my seniors wrote e-mails to universities and he told me that he didn't get any reply..same thing happened to many of my seniors...One of my friend (senior) who got residency wrote :- "MPH route se jaana ya clerkship karna, observership aasani se nahin milti" these were the exact words..

Clerkship is very expensive ..not my cup of tea...It costs about 3-4lakhs.
Please help tinkerbell about observership..
(1)Requirements Of Observership? like what steps to be cleared ...or no steps required.
(2)Cost is no matter...I am ready to shell out money..
(3) Most important query:- How to apply for observership????
Please reply as soon as possible..

Warm Regards
dipsite.
