Cabinet

In the case of cabinet, brands dont matter much coz almost all have the same build quality excepting some really high end ones like Antec...

go for one with enough room for all components so that air can circulate freely and keep the components cool...
also look if it has ample room for a future upgrade..

Zebranics and Amigo are some affordable brands with good build quality..

i'm lookin something which looks attaractive and has room for intalling extra fans...

it would cost around 1500-2000

Monitor

Since LCD screens are the rage nowadays so i decided to go for the biggest we could afford...
look for
good response times... below 8ms.
good contrast ratio... around 1000:1
good viewing angle.. around 140-150 degrees
and of course good looks icon_biggrin.gif

17" LCD's are available for around 9000 bucks while 19" for around 12,000 but i was luckily able to grab a deal for a Samsung 19" Widescreen LCD for 11,300 only...

Keyboard and Mouse

ergonomics and comfort are very importand when deciding for keyboard and mose..
Logitech and Microsoft make the best quality and design...
Optical mouse are the norm now and some laser mouse are also out there...
go for USB based keyboard and mouse...

Wireless keyboard and mouse are also becoming popular but they have some problems such as range problems, interference with other devices and they are battery hogs so that they require new sets of cells every 2-3 months.. thats a recurring expenditure..

wired combo would cost around 700 bucks and wireless around 1400..

i'm lookin at Logitech G1 gaming combo...
its a wired combo and retails for around 1700..
advantage is very high precision and resolution of mouse which is very useful in those fast action games and playing fragmatches online... gives an edge over the other players..
also the keyboard is anti-spill... icon_biggrin.gificon_biggrin.gif

Speakers

Creative and Altec Lansing make some of the best speakers out there.. Logitech ones are quite good too...

we tried a lot of models of all these brands but were not satisfied...
the lower end models costing 3000-5000 were just lacking the bass and midtones necessary for good listening experience...
they had the quality of sound but the "thump" was not there:D
so we decided to try other brands and found them simply crap in terms of music quality..

it was just when we've been loosing hope that we got a pleasant surprise...
We were checking out intex speakers and all of them performed very poorly.. but one particular model.. the 5800w performed so well that it left even creative behind...

pristine music quality in 6 channels with earth shaking bass and that too with absolutely no distortion at high sound levels...
to top it off it had good looks, wireless remote and integrated FM at the affordable price of 4500 ..
who can let it go ???

icon_biggrin.gif Great work! vikingbhai!
Finally this thread is turning out to be very informative thread!

One request, Can u please rename the post to a simple & more attention grabbing name? Like "FAQ: The Thousand Dollar Question: How 2 assemble a PC" or anything like that as u wish.

If the name too becomes informative, this is an ideal thread for being a sticky thread in Hardware forum.

Its just a request
not an advice, so please do think abt it & do reply.
