Hello Everyone,
I am pursuing DNB
in Gen. Medicine at AMRI Hospital, Kolkata and like everyone else who have embarked on this hazardous route to post-graduate nirvana, i too am scared to my bones about DNB
Part 2 exams.
There can't be a more unorganized course like DNB
-
1.There are no previous-years question papers available anywhere. I even emailed to the board and all I got for a reply was that the questions are the same which are available on the National Board's website. I went through the whole website and all i could find was a paltry list of out-dated topics which one needs to read and a few sample short-notes.
2. No one has any idea about the approach to the Part 2 theory as well as practical exams. Those who have an idea are already passed the exams and are too immersed in their careers to be able to guide.
3. The NBE doesnt help much - no one picks up the phones, hardly anyone answers the mails... and well, quite frankly no one is bothered.
4. Most hospitals running the courses are hardly equipped with the means to run a comprehensive training programme for training the students. All they want from the course is a limitless supply of junior doctors who'll work like bonded labourers and wont be paid much for it.
So, to cut short a long story.. one should either not join the DNB
course, or if someone has joined he must form a group with like minded people to overcome the barrier.
I will be appearing for my Part 2 exams in mid of 2010 and am hoping to build up a comprehensive list of questions asked in the exams. If anybody reading this post is interested in joining hands with me, you are most welcome. Together we can make difficult tasks look easy.
Inputs are eagerly awaited.

Hi Saif,
Nice to hear from you.
Lets get on with the question collection thing. I came across three questions which seem to be of interest currently to the examiners:
1. Isolated systolic hypertension.
2. Obstructive sleep apnea
3. Non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (aka Non-alcoholic steato-hepatitis)

Hi Dr. Jain,
There are several ways to share the previous years question papers:
1. Posting it in the forum online - but this will require us to type out all the questions if we have them in the form of hard copies.
2. Exchanging our telephone numbers and contacting each other personally so that we may discuss the issue further and perhaps physically meet in case it is feasible. My cell no. is 09231853041
3. Exchanging email addresses for sending mails with the question papers. The problem with this option is that the people who run rxpgonline discourage exchanging emails since it diverts traffic from their website.
The best course, i suppose is to post as many questions (with the years in which they were asked) as possible in this forum. The second best optioin is to exchange telephone numbers and discuss the issue.
Cheers!
