The approach in Transhiatal esophagectomy is Abdomen and neck...no thoracotomy done...
The Abdomen-Chest-Neck approach is done in En Bloc Esophagectomy...
Referred to Sabiston's for this...couldnt find proper details in L & B and Schwartz's

well coolnicks, i think munnabhai is somewhat right. Actually during my internship, i guess we used to advice bed rest & tocolytics, but that is not in option. The examiner here has not framed question properly, i would say. Mac. Donald's cant be given in labour, but then again why should we augment labour..tis is what i thought in exam & marked Mac. Donald's.
Think aayush must take a note of this one. No text is going to specify this as the correct answer is bed rest & tocolytics which is not in choice.
So either the question should not be attempted or better ask OBG resident. |
yes tulio u r right that management should be bed rest & tocolytics ideally with raising leg end of bed.which is the thing one shud do.but u just cant apply suture why endanger mothers life.it wil certainly lead to cervical tear.same question was asked to me in my final mbbs exams.its not about having preprepre mature labour as someone quoated.no gynecologist wud dare to give stitch.he wil prefer to evacuate uterus.but again i was confused that weather it is ethical to do abotion at 22 wks?
