hello Dr.XP,
sorry for the late reply..agreed,pathologists can earn a lot,or say maximum..but one cant deny that its a dependent branch n most of the moolah comes from havin good contacts with the docs..we hv to lick docs feet to succeed in a pharmaceutical industry too;in that sense even that's a dependent branch..but here its a group of guys workin together unlike patho where everythin narrows down to an individual. |
Not only your fellow colleagues become ur clients but also start showing attitude as they are pretty aware that your business depends on them now. Moreso you need to attend RMPs /Quacks too, (i found that part very annoying) , talking to them for ur business who are many a times just low IQ crack-pots...(at times this fact makes things lot easier...u just need to have good comunication and they are floored ...)

to get time for entrance prep..needless to say very few medicos really opt for what they like ;n few here implies a rare species ..it seems our likes change with our rank first 300 are interested in radio orthopaedics
n med or paeds.next bunch of 500 focusses on surg, ansthsia pharmc n so on later all follow..females tend to 'LIKE' obgy, anestsia n patho... |
Picking up acc to rank is more or less a compulsion and that is okay Other funny factor which at times which particpiates is parents pressure.Parents (Non-medic particularly) generally imagine doc as either surgeon, gyneac , paeds ,or IM doc heart specialist, somehow they dont like the idea of radio path anaesthsia Psychiatry
.My folks were deadly against my inclination for Pathology
, I opted Path over Gyneac , opthal , Anaesthesia
, skin , surgery despite of massive pressure for Gyneac/surgery , i didnt succumb.

males pray for some independent branch so that gettin a spouse with a dependent branch gets easier..its a rarity that a male pathologist gets a spouse with a clinical field.. chalo then ......i guess im gettin unnecessarily carried away..no offence meant..iv mentioned just what iv observed....SIYAA,would u like to comment on this?? |
I know many male pathologists married to Gynaecologists and Radiologists ...Somehow female:male docs ratio is skewed in North India so when it comes to marriage(in west and south probably it is opposite) , options for gals are limited in North unless they pick some high-profile non-medic over a medic ; i know my many 'Nice gals ' in my friends who compromised on 'Many' factors and my many friends in guys who were in Anaesthesia
and Pathology
and married to Paediatrician /IM gals. ; (But marriage is marriage , it ishud be taken as a deal, not branch but it is finally the person that counts ).
..we went lot off topic...

MD is preferable if u have a choice otherwise DNB
is as good as MD as far private practice is concerned.Bigger hospitals may prefer MD at times.
