| Lemme rephrase it or rather explain it. They screen using BOTH scores in the argument.. Like such programs review people with say a score of 95 AND 95 on both steps. So someone with a 99 and 94 would be out of the screen but someone with 95 and 95 would be in. |
I guess you got annoyed. Well, I posted whatever I thought of expenditure thingy. One needs to be armed with hefty bank balance so as to succeed in his/her struggle of going to USA.
Regarding this filter I had some idea about it but wasn't too sure !! One of the filter I came across was " Attempt in any of the STEP " (even in CSA).
If a Double-99er ends up with an attempt in CSA. He/She is straightaway filtered out. |
Hmmm.. If i sounded so dipsite, i apologize. I can't get 'annoyed' at you, i know you now to react otherwise! Yes, i was a bit surprised at the argument, because in this huge war thats one of the very few factors we can have a control over a bit. I understand its really really tough to gather such moolah for people like me who come from average middle class families but then this is a big 'Yagna' which needs these ahutis (Offerings) and sacrifices. What you say does have a point but my stand is that this is still something we can work on. Loans are always there for the taking and other methods but what lies after that is frustrating, terrifying and depressing because we are rarely in control.
You are right about the attempt screen. There are many such screens, like visa requires, USCE, attempts only in CS or all the steps. Depends on individual programs.
One more factor that has come up and has astonished me. It is the address on your CAF (Common Application Form). Specially if you have a US address. This information is not baseless and i found many takers for this idea. It seems a few PCs have admitted that this is a consideration for their programs when huge number of IMGs apply. This also explained a little to me why most Northeast programs, many of them crappy, outrightly rejected my application.. Maybe because my address was of Midwest which is mutually hated/avoided. Again, you never know for sure.
Surprises won't end here.. they'll keep coming as you enter this 'Chakravyuh' (A strategic military formation). Yes, this is the right word i have stumbled across.. This is a 'Chakravyuh' and at least i don't know how to come out of it.

@anilchauhan82
Sir, I agree with you but we (Ash B and I) need a little break in the form of jokes (in posts) so as to keep going on.
I have no (little) idea about Surgery in USA so nothing can be expected of me. It is a highly competitive branch and none of my friend is trying for it.
I was being told that Clinical Electives (Clerkship) should be on CV if one wants to get non-IM branches like Radiology, Surgery, Anaesthesia
etcetera. Infact, I would not hesitate to write that Clerkship is utmost necessary for those who want above mentioned branch(es).
Those who are trying for Branches like Surgery, Radiology in USA are already Senior Residents at AIIMS
, MAMC. There must be some Fresh Graduates trying for such Branches, but unfortunately I don't know any.
My clinical electives (clerkship) advice would work only for Final Year (MBBS)Students.

If you take USCE as a filter then what about those programs who mention something like this
We DoNOT consider Observership as USCE
Then what ????
