Quick Scroll fight for dignity 03.24.08 (5 months ago) #1

Guys I want to start this signature campaign which i call fight for dignity.
World has zoomed past us in terms of power, money, influence & now even the respect which doctors commanded is gradually fading .
Is it not unfair that an MBBS gets paltry 5000 20000 rs / month after slogging hard. While others are already well setteled by the time doctor graduate.
Why should we let ourselves be ridiculed & go through so much mental torment for so little.
Please let us get together & let the world & powers that be ( IMA, API various doctors associations) know that we are getting a raw deal & we deserve a decent earning & living.
Join in guys

Thanks a ton for posting Rajju, i was begining to think that perhaps i am raising an unjustified protest. I just hope others join in. I mean is 10000 rs sufficient to maintain even a simple but decent living standard if yuo live in a big city. I wont be wrong if i say that most of wont be able to afford treatment in the very hospitals which employ us , if god forbid there is some serious illness.
well,
To start with we could flood IMA with letters(postcards) stating our concern.
Internet campaign can be started, dont know how credible it would be considered since most of us are known by our nicknamehere. would need moderator's interest.
Messages to various junior doctor associations of medical colleges can be sent. To draft a letter in unison
Speak up fellows
Ill be posting IMA address shortly.
Any suggestions are welcome.

I still dont understand how we proceed. Is IMA or other such organizations going to increase our pay scale? or force others to increase our pay scale?
What is the actual aim of this protest? And what do hope to establish?

Well as far as I know IMA is a well meaning organisation with its branches & members all over India. Most of the well established consultants all over India are members of it. & IMA does command some influence on its members who usually are in a position to try & make a difference.
It has in past supported the cause of doctors or even the patients & its opinion does count on national level.
I feel that it may atleast acknowledge dim situation of doctors ( espl non pgs) for a start, & this can happen only if we atleast speak for ourselves.
if you are convinced about the cause but not this means , other methods may be suggested & tried , but if yuo feel its a silly cause, then well I stand alone. Thanks!

How will the IMA implement the difference?
I am sorry , but I am not convinced this will work.
I understand the cause and probably support it, but we are not going the right way about it.
I dont understand how IMA or other such organizations can raise our 'DIGNITY'. Please specify step by step.

Hey rajju, some other idea is welcome!
IMA can not "implement" anything but atleast it can acknowledge the poor state of affair & this will give credibility to our voice.
It may enable bringing to fore the issues which have been ignored so far.
The issue is not just about money, its about working conditions, issues adressing professional development, other facilities.
Among The members of IMA are doctors who own or play important administrative role in various private & governmental institute, if they get convinced that improvement is recquired then it might just happen.
And "dignity" may be read as morale & economic well being if that suits you .
& these are the steps
Step 1 decide upon a media to communicate our concern
step 2 communicate our concern not just to IMA but other supportes such as various junior doctors association, involve media if possible.
step 3 Try again if not heard the first time, may be try a different strategy from among valuable suggestion.
step 3
I hope others come up with "constructive ideas" & some "whole hearted support".
