public health and preventive: read the chapter in TN and supposedly read Shah but i only read a couple of chapters in there, a few months before the exam. It's basically torture, and i couldn't do it.
Opinions vary on whether you should or shouldn't read it through while slitting your wrists. I don't think it would have helped me much for the exam.
As for studying online, i was part of a group. They opened this room on PalTalk (download it) but that room hasn't really been active since May. Perhaps you can start your own and invite people to come in and have discussions, exchange questions, etc.
It was great for me in terms of moral support and also for the q exchange.

thanks all,as i wrote before my main sources of study were kaplan and internet.
I have a question for help:
in some specialities I was better than nearly all ,does the score in these specialities play a major role in carms and give me a good chance to be elected in carms or it is not important at all?

i think they only look at the total score; I doubt they have time to look at everyone's break down. But that's just my opinion.

IF MCCQE1 IS SITLL SCORED OUT OF 800 WITH MEAN OF 5OO AND STANDARD DEVIATION OF 100 ,PASS MARK OF 390 WILL BE BELOW MEAN
1. THIS IS WAY BELOW MEAN ( MORE THAN I SD BELOW MEAN IF ANY BODY PASS BY ONLY 390 )
2. THIS ALSO MEANS STATISTICALLY THAT 2.5 OF POPULATION HAS SCORED HIGHER AND 2.5 LOWER WHICH IS ANOTHER NON SENCE POINT
AND THIS IS STATISTICALLY DOESNT MAKE SENCE ...
TAKE FOR INSTANCE EE , PASS IS 250 AND MEAN IS 270 , ( THE DIFFRENCE B/W PASS AND MEAN WAY LESS THAN 1 SD )
3. THE WAY I SEE IT IS THAT QE1 AND EE ARE SCORED IN THE SAME MANNER , WHICH IS 500 TOP MARK AND 50 SD DEVIATION WITH ONLY DIFFRENCE IN PASS MARK (250 VS 390 )
THIS WAY PASS MARK WILL BE 2 SD HIGHER THAN MEAN , WHICH IS I FIND MOER IN KEEP WITH REALITY AND CONVAYS TO ANY ONE HO COMPETETIVE IS QE1..........
4 MORE OVER IF YOU GO TO INTERVIEWS POST OF GOLDENHAND YOU WILL FIND GOOD SCORERS USUALLY SCORE LATE 400S (475 -480)
AND TO BE HONEST WITH YOU I HAVENT HEARED MORE THAN 400S RECENTLY......

Hi,
It's true, the pass mark of 390 in MCCQE1 would mean that only about 10% of all candidates fail the MCCQE1. I don't know how that makes sense or not. Otherwise, I still stand by my opinion...
1. I got 548 in MCCQE1 and I read from somebody else on this forum who got 650, also in the last MCCQE1. My score in (new) MCCEE on the other hand was 344.
2. If you go to the mcc and cehpea homepage, they explain the scoring system and it agrees with what I said. So does Met5 and other people here.
Anyway, it is not the most important thing in the world.

mccee is not scored out of 800 =3SD ,there is score above 900 .
the pass mark (390) is way below mean,that is true,around 1SD or less than 16% of participant will fail (1SD=68%)

the mccqe1 and OLD mccee were scored in the same manner,but for new mccee comparision is only between mccee takers with mean 270 and SD 50 and pass 250.in other word if your score in Old mcee was mean(500),it is equall to 350 in new mccee score{that is around 1.5SD above new mean(270)}.
in old mccee pass score was 303 with mean 500 and 1SD=100,it means that only 2.5% of participant would fail(2sd=95.5%) but the score was derived from database of both mccee and mccqe1 takers.
in new mccee pass mark is 250 with mean 270 and 1SD=50 ,it means nearly 33% of participant will fail but the score is comparision between only mccee takers.
so OLD mcceescore 301 is equal to NEW mccee score 250.
