Quick Scroll AIPGE ...?? 02.25.06 (2 years ago) #53

AIPGE is the best thing if one can afford to invest one year of hard study..hopefully.....few months of depression...again another year of study...finally some seat...again three years of slogging...after this a meagre income????....anyway all this is expected. But all said and done getting a seat through AIPGE is the most prestigious one ever.

Quick Scroll situation in UK-current 03.13.06 (2 years ago) #55

dear friends,

what an eye opener for me--the original post was 2 years ago and reflects the situation to T now --the situation is worse actually

let me tell u all those dreaming of Pounds or MRCS from UK. FORGET THESE DREAMS.

i am an sho in Psychiatry in UK for the past 3years, got mrcpart1, will pass part2 shortly and fully registered with gmc. see my post regarding being a consultant in 3 years and looking for greener pastures from2009. hell, it was only 1-2 months ago and the situation is so worse now that i myself am thinking of changing to Australia

the current facts are

1. Uk govt recently announced that they are aboishing PFT (permit free training) visa from july 2006.

so all the doctors from then will have to get work permit to work here in uk. that means the employing hospital or its trust has to show that thye have no homegrown drs to fill them up.

and home grown means all the EU (europen union) not just the UK. so there is almost nil chance for any of the new docs from asian countries to get a job here

2. recent changes like introduction of foundation courses and other changes of mmc (modernising medical careers) means that anyone who has done internship in thier home countries are not eligible for these and hence allmost all our people will not be eligible

so no eligibility for foundation jobs--no eligiblity for any jobs here in uk since from 2007aug everything is going to go to foundation drs only

3. The visa and application fees have gone up so much you would need to spend allmost all of your 1 months salary for about 1 year of registration of gmc, visa fees, mdu fee etc

4. almost nil chance of progression in all the career fields, after sho level, if u are lcuky to get enough sho posts, applying every day for the next 6 months job including once easy ones like Psychiatry etc

i personally know 3-4 of my own classmates who have left because no job and there are 3-4 more who i think would go back in the next 2-3 months, max 6 months. sad but very true

so my advice to you all wishing to come to uk

DO NOT EVEN THINK OF COMING HERE FOR THE NEXT3-4 YEARS

HOPEFULLY THEY MAY WANT US AGIAN LATER

SORRY FOR THE BAD NEWS BUT IT IS TRUE

i came to knoe from a secretary that they have got information from the dept of health that from now onwards any attachment for a period more than 1 month will require the doctor to himself/herself get a work permit for attachments.

this rule doesnt affect attachments of period of a month or less.

Quick Scroll Training and work experience work permit 04.07.06 (2 years ago) #59

Hi Nikhil

Quote from the Work permits guidance for employers For the TWES
(Training and work experience work permit )

(a) there is a UK-based employer;
you can make a work permit application if
you are a UK based employer and you
wish to offer a period of training or work
experience in the UK to a person. You
should make a work permit application to
employ a named person to undertake
specific period of training or work
experience for you, normally on a full-time basis....

(d) the pay and conditions of employment
are equal or exceed those normally given
a resident worker doing similar Training o
Work Experience.

You are being led down the garden path, watch out!!!

cheers
