Introducing "Community Action" in RxPG Forums
We at RxPG are committed to provide the best discussion environment to our community. We know that our users appreciate the safety and focus in RxPG environment as we have close to a million posts in our forums to support this fact. However, our ever increasing popularity also invites spammers and abusers of the system. Although we do have well defined report and action systems in place, our staff and moderators can sometimes take up to a few hours to take an action on an abuse report. This indeed is not acceptable to us as we strive to do even better.

We have done some thinking about how best to solve this problem and came up with the idea of providing more power to RxPG community. For the next 2 months, we are testing a system where in if enough "responsible" members vote a post down, then it would automatically be buried. This would hopefully reduce the delay that is caused by waiting for a moderator to take action.

We are aware of the risk that sometimes such tools can be used by majority to silence the dissenting minority, so we would crack down heavily on members who would use this tool inappropriately. In order to ensure fairness, we would be reviewing each instance of wherein a post was removed by community action tool.

There are enough safeguards built in this new feature to prevent it from abuse. Moderators and admins would also have the ability to reverse such community actions and if the poster thinks it is unjustified, it can appealed against by the poster (one can use the report button for appealing for the time being, but we would have a more formal system in place soon).

Here is how it would look like in action.

We would love your feedback and suggestions for improvement on this new feature.

UNANSWERED: Is it just one exam for DNB SS and FET in 2019?

Such a move was indeed needed and would help in creating and retaining healthy discussions in the forum.

Chances of these community actions being abused are there but still we should go for it on trial basis as mentioned. The concerned member can easily appeal/ approach Team or moderator if he or she feels that community action against him/her was unjust.

much needed feature and sounds good.. may be this can be extended to temporarily blocking the members when a number of their posts are removed due to community action.. this temporary block to remain till the moderators and rxpg team can look into the issue.. thank u

much needed feature.. as all sorts of demented people with multiple ID's sprouting in threads..
Thanks RxPG_Team and other moderators..
Hope it functions well..

Many thanks for all the comments. In the last 12 hours, community action was used in 5 different posts, all of which were appropriate use. We would keep on monitoring all community actions during the trial period and use that data and feedback from this thread to fine tune the tool and the algorithm behind it.

A very good feature and much needed one...... smiley24.gif

we hv no right to write these things here,,,,as rxpg hv a blind eye now-a-days n every otherwise post deleted here by a lobby of ppl.....who thinks only they hv a right to say,,,,others only can hear......
Team even ignored the veterns who hv contributed a lot...
Hope atleast now team give some heed here n remove this community tool,,,,,its only misused to suppress the voice of ppl by a lobby who think only in one direction,,others hv no write to express here......is n't that against the spirit of constitution of our country

@supriya
community action tool is a really good thing...it has helped control people like harry, ram jaane and many more..i dont see any demerits or it being misused..if ur posts are getting deleted then its just because ur posts are conflicting in its nature maybe..one day u support cet and the other day u oppose it...

watever it is but it is in the greater interest of the site as a whole and not to punish or please any particular individual...as far as being veterans is concerned...i believe the same rule should apply to every member whether ur a veteran or a newbie...credits dont increase a person's credibility, its the actions...
ur a respected member when it comes to mcq discussions, it is something u have revolutionised..perhaps thats y ur miss rxpg 2009...not everybody know it and its of no use trying to explain it to them...its just ur stand on the cet issue which was confusing which has made those people against u...
so relax and go back to the thing u do the best..study hard with exams so near...let other things take care of themselves...needless to say i have great respect for u and was an avid follower of ur mcq threads both last yr and this yr...so i wish u all success...just stay away from such unwanted controversies...
good luck..

Hello Supriya.
Thanks for the input.
I know which posts you are talking about. There is a provision in this community action tool to appeal against such an action taken by the members. If you could specifically point out the posts upon which you feel the community action was unjustified then we can definitely restore them. This provision has always been there, but we have not received any specific complaint from you. I do not know that you have complained to Team or not, but I can assure you (or any other member) that if you feel that community action was unjustified then do contact the Team or the concerned moderator; they will do/undo the needful.

Once again I would like to clarify that community action is not an ultimate thing, and one can appeal against it to Team or the concerned moderator; their decision will be final.

smiley24.gif The new feature is great. Now users can react against an abusive post in a peaceful manner. This will help a lot to control spamming and abuse by fake ids.

This feature has already been tested and is in effect.

Responsible members = people with no penalty points, no previous warnings.
