Can anybody plse help me in solving the following problem-
ELISA has sensitivity 95%& specificity 95%.Prev of HIV carrieres is 5%.The positive predictive value of positive test is;
a)95% b)50%
c)100% D)75%
I would like to know how to derive the answer 50%.Thanks in advance,vkdeepa

okay i will try tht.
ppv=prevalence x sensitivity/(prevxsensitivity)(1-prevalence)(1-sensitivity) (rfrnce harrison)
substitute the values in fraction itself and deduce it out,u will get the answer as 50%
