A PATIENT WITH HBsAg POSITIVITY SHOULD BE SCREENED NEXT FOR ONE OF THE FOLLOWING VIRAL MARKERS:
1.IGM anti HBc antibodies
2.Anti HBe antibodies
3.HBeAg

hey i think the answerr should be anti HBe antibodies
well my view is that they are asking what viral marker should be screened for
they are not specifically asking for what viral marker should be done to make a diagnosis of hepatitis B
had it been for diagnosis i would have preferred but they r just asking screened for

moreover IG M HBc will just help in diagnosis
while with antibodies to HBe u can know about the disease status
any different views????
gurus???

I partly agree with Contagious.
But when we refer to 'Screening',it usually refers to DIAGNOSIS & not from the Rx point of view.
Hence I wud still go for IgM-anti-HBc
Any other opinions??
Btw, wots the given ans??
