MBBS textbook learning strategy 1st year
How exactly do you effectively study from a textbook?

should we take notes in class during lecture and refer the textbook for that particular area only or should we explore more for depth?

for example, a teacher explains the humerus bone. and I have 2 textbooks, gray's anatomy and B.D. chaurasia.

should I come back and sit and learn B.D. chaurasia and Grays anatomy writing down every detail and then integrating it wioth the class notes. Is that a good idea?

If there are any other strategies kindly share. How did you do it?

UNANSWERED: Clinical: Which torch to use Bright white or dull yellow

listen to wat is being taught, try n write down key points n then read about it from chaurasia or greys.
Always read da textbook ,not da class notes. N i thnk dat making notes is no good. Try to stick to textbooks ,it ll benefit u in long run...
N first proff is completely n all about concepts. So try to understsnd everything, dnt mug things up.
(I wish sm1 wud hv guided me...)

Thank you for that. one more thing.

I know the material is very vast and I'm probably going to struggle learning all that material, but will it be possible to read each and everything before the exam? won't it be better if I make short notes?

Actually it would be better If I don't make notes. I always prefer textbook. I break down each thing and try to understand as much as i can. But before exams, what to do? Is there any alternative to making notes?

Plus I really want to make concept and to satisfy myself I need good marks too. people say there are Indian authors textbooks will fetch you good marks. But studying from gyton and ganong will make me a better doctor. I'm in a kind of dilemma here. Should I focus both on concept and matk fetching books, or just concept books?

da thing is mate.. dat in order to clear da proff exam u gotta b aware of wat all was taught bt professors in class esp da hod of dat dept n u hv to go thru da previous papers of ur colg. N fr physiology ,read only ganongs.... It ll helo u alot in future..

Try not to mk notes. Cz u may develop a habit n in later years u ll find dat u cannot mk notes wen it comes to medicine n surgery.. so to avoid it. Dnt mk notes n read frm std textbooks.
