you have to take all the steps because they do not recognise our degree, plus it is time consuming, money consuming and there is no guarantee that u will get residency of fellowship after clearing the steps and above all the visa problem. Taking all this into account I think after doing pg, try settling here only, that wud be wise

hi.i need help.
my friend,dr.sissie, did mbbs from sawai man singh medical college, jaipur in supple and then he somehow managed to get US residency.after doing his MD,he is sitting idle as no patients come to him in US.should he leave the profession and become a houseman or should he return to india and do some practice to keep him busy,as being idle has made him sick mind and whole day he keeps logged on to internet to look for jobs.in US no one hires him and he is jobless.i pity him but i have no way to help him and i fear he would turn a internet addiction disorder case.what should he do?pls help

I guess getting a fellowship in usa is much easier than residency matching. So clear the steps as soon as you join in MD. Any suggestions please add in

Please help me

I'm breaking my head since a week..

Doing myinternship now, though I seriously started preparing for Indian pg,I'm not able to get US out of my mind.

Just a question,if we don't need to pay anything after a match, den doing pg in US is cheaper den doing in some pvt coll here rite?

Compared to US,I heard we get paid only peanuts here..

Someone please advice me,I heard we need to spend 10-15 lakhs for mle is dat true?(though money is not a problem for me)

Yes, it is strange that he completed his residency and is unable to find work! He could look for a job in a hospital/ group practice set up. Is he board certified and in which specialty? Or has he just cleared USMLEs and hence is an MD?

drkeshavj

so u mean to say that we should try clearing the steps during our residency, so that its easier to do fellowship there after pg in india??

Vascular surgery is very competitive field. There are 2 options. 1.0+5years integrated vascular surgery residency. 2.5+2. 2years fellowship following 5 year general surgery residency.

Aim MBBS

After MBBS get admission for MCH on student VISA. During MCH study prepare for USMLE and contact for observership. For getting residency observership is must. So without wasting time , it is better to go dere on I20

Biohazard1

basically the only way to get fellowship without doing a residency (e.i not have done usmle, thus not being able to apply for residency) in the US is if fellowship positions go unfilled (which they do, depending on field) and you have PERMANENT STATUS in the US, otherwise it is very difficult.

Alternatively it maybe easier to get a fellowship in canada (visa issues are easier) which will be recognized in the US.

But at the end of the day if you want to practice in the US you need to have completed a residency, and inorder to get a residency you have to have at least have completed step 1, 2(CK,CS).
