i use parikh for Forensic and it says in chronic poisioning you can find As in kidney, liver ,heart muscle and skin.
acute poisoning ---you can find it in urine in 1/2 an hr but in skin you can detect it only after a fornight.

well dear,reddy says,

main elimination of arsenic is thru kidneys n it appears in urine within half n hour of ingestion!and gets continuosly excreted upto 10-12 days.

it also says, dat arsenic is excreted into epidermal tissues(viz hair, skin, etc)
within HOURS of ingestion!!!!! icon_eek.gif
n also dat it gets fixed there!

in early stage(before acutally the putrefaction starts),arsenic is found in greatest quantity in the liver, followed by kidney and spleen!rembr this is mentioned only in regard to the CONCENTRATION of the metal.
n the arsenic which gets deposited in keratin stays there for months!prbly this why we use keratin as the most reliable one in cases of chronic poisoning! icon_rolleyes.gif
n in cases of intermittent chronic arsenic poisoning, ther will be successive deposits of the metal in the keratin tissue depending upon the periods of exposure n non exposure!!!prbly this also makes it more reliable! icon_rolleyes.gif

so, if u oughtta diagnose a case of arsenic poisoning(even if it is acute),post mortem, dont u think, keratin tissue wud be a much reliable method than urine! icon_rolleyes.gif

i dunno for sure!this is just a thought!in reality im confused! icon_cry.gif
anyway,as the competition is now between the keratin n urine,i suppose the ans to the above question wud be keratin!!!

just bcos it appears in urine within half n hour of ingestion, doesnt also necessarily means dat its getting concentrated in the kidneys, during the process!!!isnt it! icon_eek.gif

PLEASE CORRECT ME! icon_sad.gif

I read Parikh too.

Read the question first buddies.

It says "Acute arsenic poisoning" - in that case kidney, liver would be the choice. Liver being the best bet.

Where as if you talking about chronic cases, it would keratin tissue.
