Pay money for the Coaching Classes only if their CLASS ROOM COACHING IS GOOD......
There is nothing new with the NOTES..... They are the same as your texts

dear nadu... the coaching given in pg classes is not really different from what we get in out undergraduate clasees.and more over the no of students in these pg classes are so much that individual attention is a problem.its just a money waste. i think its better to join a test series rather than regular classes. u can go to take those tests at weekends and then discuss it simultaneously. that will be helpful in the following ways.
1.u will undergo a practice test for all india pg exam everytime u undergo a test.
2. u will have an aim to study for that particular test and in this way u can study at a faster rate and with good rhythm..(remeber those times when we used to finish one full subject the day before the exam)
3. no wastage of money.
4. u can easily discuss your problems and make notes of your weakpoints.
5. proper time management to solve questions.

Hey friends,
I would try to be very clear cut about what I think of the two PG training camps I have attended.
If you want to know HOW (bad) the classes can be:
Firstly, I went to the coaching classes conducted by the Trivandrum IMA. That was during my internship when I was really enjoying myself working at the hospital. Therefore, I was tired and sleepy all through out the sessions in the weekends. Basically, I slept through the first part of the session and then didn't even bother to attend the second part.
Then, after my internship, I joined the Kottayam PG Training Classes. This, as a few might recognise, is very famous among PG aspirants. Some even go as far as to calling it the best PG entrance training centre in India. I went there when I was getting started with preps. Since I was not a good academician during my undergraduate years, I was basically lost in the maze of subjects at that time. This meant that I was not in the frame of mind for picking up points. I tried my level best to concentrate in those classes. But, tiredness from travel and and underprepared mind led to somnolence which prevailed over my consciousness in most sessions.
Why am I going blah blah blah? Just to make you aware that when you select PG training classes, make sure that you can get yourself attending the classes with fresh mind. Also, you should be into preps to really reap the benefits from these classes. Whichever class you decide to join, you have to prepare for a particular session in the week before. If you can do this regularly, you will enjoy the classes.
Now, if you want to know IF we should join such classes or not:
I think that preparing for PG entrances is much more easy if you discussing the topics you are supposed to learn. This can be done with your friends in the combined study sessions. This can also be done with yourself when you are sitting in these PG classes. But only if you are prepared enough. If the lecturer has an entrance point to share, and if you are at home with the topic which he/she is talking about, then you might ask yourself the other important points. Initially, this is a little bit hard. But when you gain enough ground, your questions to yourself would be more to-the-point, relevant and therefore, useful. And since you are putting yourself on the button, you will pick up points from the same topic when you study it at home.
Why can't this be done at home, you might ask? Well, it's because during lectures topics needn't repetitive. They can span from one end of the subject to another in the matter of seconds. This really keeps you on your toes.
These are my views. I hope you don't mind the length of the answer. I felt like typing for some time!
Cheers
Dr. Kay

This is My Opinion and I am sure that not many will agree with it (and I don't expect many to agree )

I have attended Kottayam and this does not apply to that... IT IS REALLY DIFFERENT... I can tell that loud and clear (My view)

That is correct...... As far as I was concerned The classes were so good and we are past the spoon feeding ages....
I hope it is enough if some one shows you where water is and not to force it down your throat....... You go and drink that

5. proper time management to solve questions. |
All these can be got by you yourself solving Previous years questions.... available in web sites (if you don't have them). In my opinion to pay for a TEST SERIES is waste of money.... Why Pay for something in thousands that is given in websites for free and books for Rs 100 - 150
TO SUM UP
If the lecturer has an entrance point to share, and if you are at home with the topic which he/she is talking about, then you might ask yourself the other important points. Initially, this is a little bit hard. But when you gain enough ground, your questions to yourself would be more to-the-point, relevant and therefore, useful.

So
DECIDE YOURSELF.......
Every one will give you their Opinion.... based on their strengths and weakness (imparting that on you;))
I think this post analyses the point from most possible angles...... Try to find where you are and act accordingly
