Quick Scroll FAQ: Prospects after PG in Anaesthesia 05.26.04 (4 years ago) #1

I have the following doubts regarding Anaesthesia .
1) What are the superspecialities one can do after MD Anaesthesia ?
2) What are the chances for private practice? The MBBS does entitle us
to private practice , but how succesful and practical can this be for
an anaesthetist?
3) This can be an unfounded myth but all the same , do anaesthetists
end up feeling inferior to their surgical and OBGYN colleagues?
I even hear that they end up getting only a small fraction of what
these doctors charge for their surgeries!
4) To a doctor who is not planning to go to the UK , and is planning to stay in India is an MD in Anaesthesia a really good option?
I have to make some decisions based on answers to the questions above,
so can anybody please answer them at the earliest.
Many thanks to those who do!!!

Apart from Neuro Cardiac or Paediatric Anaesthesia , you can also Definitely do DM Cardiology

Private practise depends on you being present AT THE SAME TIME IN YOUR OP AT LEAST 6 DAYS A WEEK

which I feel is not easy for an anaesthetist

They do only a small part of the work..... of course THEIR CONTRIBUTION
Quote:
DURING
SURGERY IS MORE THAN perhaps the surgeon, but surgery involves more than just "cutting" and "sewing" and anaesthetists in our set up don't do any thing BEFORE OR AFTER THE OPERATION
