Anatomy of hip joint
I did not understand the following sentence regarding hip joint

“Though the articular surfaces on the head of the femur and on the acetabulum are reciprocally curved , they are not co-extensive."
What does reciprocally curved articular surface mean? I think The femoral head is spherical while the acetabulum is cup shaped. Thus the articular surfaces are reciprocally curved. But What does co extensive mean?Does it mean the femur and acetabulum do not show extension at the same time?

probably means the femoral head is not entirely captured by the acetabulum. Also, the labrum does not fully encircle the acetabulum.
Someone please correct me if I am wrong.
